Major capital investment is set to help the borough go greener – with a new park in Chelsea Riverside and work to make 32 local schools net zero underway.

The projects are the next phase in Kensington and Chelsea’s plans to reduce carbon emissions in the borough. Cllr Johnny Thalassites said: “Our borough has cut carbon emissions the fastest in London over the past five years. I am excited to see further progress on a new park, retrofitting schools and innovative planning changes.”

Last year, local councillors approved a planning order allowing residents to install solar panels on listed homes, so long as visual harm is minimised. In Winter 2022, Conservative Council leaders launched a consultation on a new order letting residents install double glazing on listed homes. Also, there is also work to plant 400 trees in Kensington and Chelsea, as well as new sustainable planting across the borough which will help us achieve our biodiversity targets.
