Noise cameras issue record number of fines

Acoustic cameras

Noise cameras - including on Holland Road, Holland Park Avenue, Kensington High Street and Sloane Street - have now helped the Council issue close to 1,000 fines.

The record number means that more of the worst offenders are being punished for revving engines louder than the legal sound limit.

Holland ward Councillor Johnny Thalassites - who introduced some of Britain’s first acoustic cameras on Holland Road - said: “It is not acceptable for boy-racers to surpass 100dB in their vehicles, the same volume as a jet engine at take-off. This makes it almost impossible for residents to get a good night’s sleep and can affect people’s health.

Brompton and Hans Town ward Councillor, Sof McVeigh said;
“I am pleased acoustic cameras are resulting in fines and that the deterrent is having some effect.”
