TfL is proposing to scrap the C3 bus route completely.
For many residents in Chelsea Riverside, the C3 is not just a bus. It is how older residents get to the GP, how parents get their children to school, and how people who cannot manage station stairs get around safely. For many on our estates, the bus is the only way to travel.
TfL says the 74 will be changed to cover the C3 route, but Chelsea has already lost too much. This year, TfL has already decided to reroute the 19 to Victoria and cut back the 38. Each change is described as small, but together they are steadily cutting Chelsea off from the rest of London.
We accept that TfL faces financial pressures. But savings should not fall again and again on the same communities, and they should not fall hardest on the elderly, the disabled and those who depend on buses most.
We are calling on TfL to:
- Withdraw the proposal to scrap the C3
- Look at the combined impact of all recent bus cuts on Chelsea
- Listen to the residents who rely on this route
