Cllr. Sof McVeigh

Sof McVeigh

Sof became a councillor in 2018 and is currently Chair of the Licensing Committee and serving as Deputy Mayor. Sof has worked in Corporate design in Hong Kong and London, and values the importance of good design. She has been on the Grenfell Scrutiny Committee and the work there is close to her heart and she's a governor of a nearby school. Since being elected Sof has worked to get Acoustic cameras installed in the ward to help combat nuisance drivers.

Cllr. Walaa Idris

Walaa has been an active figure in the Brompton and Hans Town ward since her election in 2018, contributing across various committees and roles within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC). Her involvement includes membership in the Planning Application Committee (PAC) and the Corporate Parenting Board, alongside her service as the Deputy Lead Member for Arts, Culture, and Community Safety. In 2019, her leadership expanded when she was appointed Deputy Mayor and Vice Chair of Planning. Walaa has also contributed to local education as a school governor at Oxford Gardens Primary (2020-2024) and as Chair of Family and Children’s Services Select Committee from 2022 to 2024.

A passionate advocate for biodiversity, particularly British pollinators, Walaa became the borough’s Champion of The Bee Superhighway in 2019. This initiative promotes the establishment of pollinator corridors across RBKC to support biodiversity and enhance the environment for wild bees and other pollinators.

Walaa, a mother of two daughters and three dogs, has lived in the UK since emigrating in 1991 and has been a resident of Chelsea’s Hans Town neighbourhood since 2003.
